Abstract:It is phosphorus that limited the converter slag’s recycling in steel making process. Based on analysis of factory converter slag, predominate phosphorus was found concentrated in a solid solution of dicalcium silicate and tricalcium phosphate, as reported in some research about slow cooled converter slags. No phosphorus was found in other phases in our factory slag sample. A thermodynamic calculation using Factsage was introduced with the same results, which suggest that the sample along with analysis given was reliable. Based on the present results, a scientific basis could be established for phosphorus recycling and converter slag reuse in steel making process.
