Abstract:In order to solve that the base material for cold rolling had two- way characteristics of the black stripe defects in the direction of rolling after pickling, the optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum were used to analyze the morphology and composition of defective parts, and the rolling effect by different heating process were compared. The results showed that the fundamental reason for the mountainous black stripe on the surface of the base material for cold rolling after pickling was the mesh enrichment phase between the matrix and the oxide layers formed by the higher quality fraction of the residual elements Ni, As and Cu in steel, which was hard to remove after pickling. This kind of enrichment phase required longer time under high temperature to form, and adhered to the substrate surface and even entered into the substrate along the grain boundary, so it was difficult to remove by descaling and pickling process. This problem can be effectively solved by adjusting the ore distribution structure and shortening the time of slab in the furnace.
