Effect of Fe2O3 Addition on Properties of Sintering and
Hydration Resistance of MgOCaO Refractories " />
By adding fine Fe2O3 powder, the effect of the Fe2O3 addition on the properties of sintering and hydration resistance of MgOCaO refractories was investigated. The results showed that the sintering property of the MgOCaO refractories could be promoted dramatically, and the hydration of the MgOCaO refractories could be inhibited. When increasing the Fe2O3 amount from 0 to 3%, the bulk density of the MgOCaO refractories increased first and then decreased, the apparent porosity gained a sharp decrease and then increased by contraries. They both had extreme values when the Fe2O3 addition was 1%. The bulk density and apparent porosity changed obviously when the Fe2O3 addition was between 0.2% and 0.5%. The chalked ratio of the MgOCaO samples added with 1% Fe2O3 was only 1.46% when hydrated at 60 ℃ (relative moisture 75%) for 144 h.
