Optimize layout of iron and steel industry to promote high-quality development |

Abstract With the continuous deepening of supply-side structural reform, the distribution of China′s iron and steel industry has changed positively a lot. The layout characteristics of world′s iron and steel industry can be divided into three mainstream types, namely resource-based type, market-leading type and coastal-port type. From the perspective of high-quality development, the current layout adjustment of China′s iron and steel industry is objectively examined, the historical evolution, dynamic changes and existing problems of China′s iron and steel layout are analyzed, and the relationship between the layout and process structure, regional capacity, annexation and reorganization is studied. Finally, starting from the general trend and grand strategy of iron and steel industry development, it is suggested to improve "Steel Transportation from North to South" project, and strive to control the imbalance index of crude steel production below 4, which can solve the historical problem of "Steel Transportation from North to South" to a certain extent and promote the high-quality development of iron and steel industry.
