Application effects of single snorkel RH and arched snorkel RH |

Abstract The application effect of vacuum refining of ultra-low carbon steel in single snorkel structure RH furnace and arched snorkel structure RH furnace was tested in the field of Jingye Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the changes of gas flow rate and vacuum degree of two kinds of RH furnaces were recorded. And the mass percentage of w ([C]) and w ([Mn]) in molten steel was detected by multiple sampling, the decarburization effect and mixing time of two kinds of RH furnaces were analyzed and compared. The results were that the vacuum degree of both kinds of RH furnaces could be reduced to less than 100 Pa within 6 min of vacuum treatment, and stabilized at about 50 Pa after 10 min. Within 20 min of vacuum treatment, w ([C]) in steel refined by the former RH furnace could be basically removed to 0.001 0%-0.001 5%, while w ([C]) in steel refined by the latter RH furnace could be removed to about 0.000 5%. And the decarburization rate of the latter was significantly faster than that of the former. The mixing time of the former RH furnace and the latter RH furnace was about 3 and 1 min, respectively. The results showed that the smelting effects of the latter RH furnace were obviously better than that of the former RH furnace, and the arched snorkel was more suitable for the small tonnage RH vacuum refining furnace than single snorkel.
