Abstract:In order to improve thermal shock resistance of low carbon MgOC refractories, the low carbon MgOC samples containing 3% carbon were prepared by adding various types of carbon blacks. Thermal shock resistance of the samples was evaluated by the experiment through dipping in 1600 ℃ molten steel and wind cooling thermal cycle, and the experiment of a conventional MgOC sample containing 16% graphite was conducted by contrast. The results show that both of the low carbon MgOC sample with addition of nanometer carbon black N220 and the conventional MgOC sample get equivalent thermal shock resistance after 5 thermal cycles.
