Abstract:In recent years, it is a popular duplex stainless steel production process in China to produce 430, 410 and other martensitic 400 series stainless steels by melting high-carbon ferrochrome and ferronickel in alloy melting furnace, dephosphorizing in converter, and refining and decarburizing the mixed stainless steel mother liquor in AOD furnace. Based on the duplex stainless steel process flow of Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., the calculation model of material balance and heat balance about converter and AOD furnace was established. The duplex material balance and heat balance process as well as material matching process of converter and AOD furnace were optimized systematically, and the process path of producing conventional 400 series stainless steel with different burden combinations was explored. The research results show that the use of intermediate frequency furnace (alloy melting furnace) has a great influence on the heat balance of AOD smelting. When the intermediate frequency furnace is not used, coke should be used to supplement the heat gap, and stainless steel scrap should be used as coolant to ensure that the tapping temperature meets the production requirements. The optimum ratio of chrome molten iron in AOD stainless steel mother liquor is between 30.0% and 32.5%, when coke and stainless steel scrap are basically unnecessary. The calculation results of the model can provide production guidance for stainless steel production by converter +AOD duplex process.
