Abstract:The steel-making dust generally contains CaO, which will be digested with water, and that will affect the strength of cold-pressing pellets. The digestion speed and degree are related to the activity of CaO. The test results show that CaO activity index of primary dust, secondary dust and refining dust are 0.681, 0.523 and 0.241 respectively, and it shows the same digestion trend for steel-making dust in open and closed environments that the digestion rate can reach about 70% with temperature rising rapidly and water content dropping sharply in the first 3 h, then the digestion speed slows down. The digestion time of steel-making dust is about 14 h with 11.44% CaO, and that about 10 h with 8.87% CaO. The characteristics of steel-making dust are complex after disintegration, which can be hardened easily, and sprayed under the action of steam. It is recommended to select the closed silo in engineering to realize digestion and smooth unloading of steel-making dust by centralized steam exhaust and dust removal facilities on the top of silo, anti-clogging facilities in the silo and large-size unloading devices under the silo.
