Abstract:17-4PH martensite precipitation-hardening stainless steel has good attenuation resistance, corrosion resistance, cavitation resistance and excellent mechanical properties, which is widely used in nuclear energy, marine and aerospace industries. Due to its long-term exposure to high temperature, corrosion, impact and friction service environment, the surface of 17-4PH workpiece is seriously damaged by water erosion, cavitation erosion, corrosion erosion and wear etc., demanding for targeted protection research. The research progress of 17-4PH stainless steel surface protection technology is reviewed. The advantages, disadvantages, and application status of 17-4PH stainless steel surface modification are analyzed from the perspective of surface strengthening, surface modification and coating. Finally, the future development trend is forecasted.
