Thermal stress analysis during service of side sealing plate for thin strip continuous casting

Abstract：In order to solve the problem of cracking caused by excessive thermal stress during the service process of the side sealing plate for thin strip continuous casting, the numerical simulation method was adopted, and the thermal-structural coupling analysis was carried out to study the effect of different material parameters and preheating temperature of the BN-based side sealing plate on thermal stress during service, and the feasibility of high corrosion resistance composite structure side sealing plate were discussed. The results show that thermal stress of the side sealing plate during service can be reduced by reducing the thermal expansion coefficient, elastic modulus and increasing thermal conductivity of the material. The higher the preheating temperature, the smaller the thermal stress. The suitable composition of carbon-containing materials can be compounded to the working surface of the side sealing plate to improve the corrosion resistance of the side sealing plate.
