Abstract:Zinc ash is a byproduct of hot galvanizing or zinc electrolysis process. Its main component is zinc oxide. It is also the main raw material for the production of zinc oxide by the direct method. The zinc oxide production process by the traditional direct method is backward, the equipment is poor, the energy consumption is high, and the resource recovery rate is low. In order to improve the green level of the zinc oxide production by the direct method, the new direct reduction process of zinc ash pellet containing carbon was developed. The effects of different process parameters on the direct reduction of zinc ash pellets containing carbon were researched. The optimum reaction parameters were obtained as the following: the reduction temperature was 1 200 ℃, the reaction time was 60 min, the coal adding amount was 20% and the CaO adding amount was 4%. Under the above reaction conditions, the reduction rate of zinc oxide in zinc ash can reach 95.5%. It is significantly improved the recovery rate of zinc.
