Evaluation model of layout of steelmaking workshop based on factors analysis

Abstract:The layout of a steelmaking workshop(LSW) has direct influences on logistics operation, scheduling, production efficiency and production cost. Through analyzing the developing characteristics of the steelmaking workshop, the evaluation model of LSW was proposed. There were four factors considered in the model, which were route of mass flow, interference of cranes, area of workshop and cost of construction. A solution of the model was also given, and the model was applied in the two different layouts of the steelmaking workshop. The two layouts were analyzed and evaluated, and the merits and defects were also compared. It′s obvious that the model can give some suggestions to the layout of a building/rebuilding steel workshop.
