Abstract:Ultrapure ferritic stainless steel is a kind of material with good corrosion resistance, processability and welding performance. Its main applications include automobile industry, kitchen appliances, household appliances and roof design of large buildings. This paper mainly studies the causes for brittleness of ultra-pure ferritic stainless steel and its influence on properties, the main characteristics of σ phase brittleness, 475 ℃ brittleness and high temperature brittleness of ultrapure ferritic stainless steel are summarized, and the causes of brittleness formation are analyzed in detail. It is considered that the precipitation of σ phase, χ phase, α'phase, Laves phase, carbon nitride and mass fraction of Cr element are the main reasons for the formation of brittleness. In addition, the effects of alloying elements, rare earth elements and aging treatment on brittle precipitates and effects of brittle precipitates on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance are briefly described. Finally, the inhibition measures is summarized for σ phase brittleness, 475 ℃ brittleness and high temperature brittleness.
